The
Golf Performance Project Island Pro Tour kicked off its 2026 season in style at Cordova Bay Golf Course, where a packed leaderboard and low scoring highlighted just how deep the Island’s professional field has become.
Played in a
Two-Pro Best Ball format, the opener delivered a birdie-heavy shootout - none more impressive than the co-winning performances of
Ben Griffin / Eric Wang (
Uplands Golf Club / Victoria Academy of Golf) and
Christof Appel / Daniel Kirby (
Golf Performance Project /
Cedar Hill Golf Course). Both teams fired matching
9-under 62s to share top spot, setting an early benchmark for the season and splitting the winner’s purse.
Just one shot back,
Jim Goddard / Lindsay Bernakevitch (
Cordova Bay /
Victoria Golf Club) posted a strong
8-under 63, keeping the pressure on throughout the round but ultimately finishing solo third. Close behind,
Nate Ollis / Mark Bicknell secured fourth at
7-under 64, continuing the trend of low numbers across the board.
The Cordova Bay layout proved to be the perfect host for the season opener. With players able to attack aggressively thanks to the best-ball format, scoring opportunities were plentiful-but with so many teams going low, there was virtually no margin for error.
The difference between contending and falling back came down to a handful of putts. Beyond the leaderboard, the event served as an early statement: depth, parity, and firepower define this year’s tour.
A tie at the top and a one-shot spread between first and third underscore just how competitive the tour is going to be. With the first points and prize money now on the board, the 2026 GPP Island Tour heads into the rest of its schedule-featuring stops at venues like Royal Colwood Golf Club and Uplands Golf Club-with plenty of momentum and no shortage of contenders.
